Research project: Open Data in the Judicial Systems: Evaluating Emerging Impact on Policy Design in Uruguay, Chile and Argentina

Whilst there are emerging open data initiatives in legislative and executive branches of government in Latin America, judiciaries generally remain closed to open data and citizen scrutiny and participation. This project looked to focus attention on the developments in open data production, collection and publication by the judicial branches of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. It explored where data is already available and where it is missing, and looked at whether court users and civil society were aware of, and using, the datasets that do exist. The project also examined emerging opportunities for open data, and considered the importance of standards for open data in the judicial system.
